About Us

Kelvin is founder and principal of Maven Compliance Corp., an Outsourced COO and CCO firm specializing in helping boutique portfolio managers, investment funds and VCs navigate the various compliance requirements mandated by provincial securities commissions. 

Prior to founding Maven, Kelvin was the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of PenderFund Capital Management Ltd., a Vancouver-based investment fund manager specializing in small cap equity, high-yield debt and venture capital. Kelvin oversaw all aspects of the firm’s finance, compliance and overall operations since 2010. During his tenure, Kelvin developed the firm's operational infrastructure to allow for the firm’s assets under management to grow to over $1 billion.

Kelvin started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he worked with clients based in Vancouver, New York and San Francisco. After PwC, Kelvin transitioned to industry at Vancity Credit Union, where he served as the Director of Finance & Product Development of Inhance Investment Management Inc., the financial institution’s fund management division.

Outside of the office, Kelvin is involved in the community by being on the Audit and Finance Committee of Dragon Boat BC. He is also an annual supporter of the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Walk with the Dragon, the organization’s flagship summer event, and the BC Cancer Agency's Ride to Conquer Cancer, a two-day charity ride supporting cancer research.

Kelvin graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree and is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst. Kelvin and his wife Jennifer are proud parents of two young children, who keep him busy coaching hockey, soccer and baseball year-round.
